Experience Aviation Learning Center

The mission of Experience Aviation is to address the significant shortage of youth pursuing careers in aviation by introducing economically deprived students to the world of aviation and aerospace, providing an introduction to the career opportunities in the industry, and leveraging existing resources within the community.

The Experience Aviation Learning Center provides exciting educational experiences, including hands-on training on flight simulator programs, to middle and high school students. Activities are designed to give them experience in various fields including flying, air traffic control, aerospace technology, and aviation maintenance.

The Center also serves as a resource hub for students by terminal-connecting them with various professional aviation businesses and general aviation and educational institutions in the community.  Making these resources and networks available to students helps them identify and pursue their career goals.

From March until May, 2008, the Learning Center is offering an After-school Program at area schools. The students are boys and girls in grades 9-12. Throughout the 9-week program, the students learn:

- Basic Principles of Aviation

- Career Path Preparation (Resumes, interviewing skills, 10-year life plan)

- Aviation History and Aerospace

- Military Aircraft

- Forces of Flight

- Aerodynamics

- Safety and Tool use

- General Aviation and Aerospace industry information

- Identification of Engine and Plane Parts

They also participate in several field trips to air traffic control towers, flight training locations such as Aeroservice, career fairs and other aviation-related events.
